Continuous rainfall across Gujarat has damaged roads, leading to a rise in accidents. On Sunday morning, a collision between two trucks on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway caused a massive traffic jam stretching nearly 5 km.
According to a media report, the situation worsened as the truck drivers got into an argument after the crash, delaying traffic further. Highway officials later stepped in to control the situation and restore order. The jam lasted for almost two hours, with vehicles lined up for several kilometres.
Earlier this week, the Indian Express reported a major traffic deadlock on the same highway. Starting late Wednesday night, traffic was backed up from Golden Chokdi to Por near Vadodara, causing delays of over 24 hours and a 15-km-long jam for travellers heading to Ahmedabad from Mumbai.
