A 46-year-old woman riding a scooter died after being hit by a truck and dragged for nearly 20 feet on a busy road in Ahmedabad, police said.
According to a media report, the victim, identified as Seema Mishra, a school teacher, was involved in the accident on Tuesday near Bhakti Circle. CCTV footage shows the truck approaching the circle while Mishra attempted to overtake it from the left. The truck collided with her scooter, causing her to fall.
Tragically, her clothes got entangled in the truck’s tyre, and she was dragged along the road for about 20 feet. The driver, Raju Maliwad, fled the scene after the accident, leaving Mishra seriously injured. She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Following a complaint by Mishra’s brother, Ahmedabad’s I Division Traffic Police registered an FIR against the truck driver. Legal proceedings have been initiated under sections 125(a), 261, 125(b), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 177, 184, and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act.
