Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3 has run into controversy ahead of its release. The film, featuring Pakistani actor Hania Aamir alongside Dosanjh, is drawing criticism from fans and film industry bodies. As per media report, following the decision to skip a theatrical release in India, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President BN Tiwari said that the federation is planning to issue an official directive to ban both Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s producers in India.
Tiwari said, “None of their films and projects would be allowed to be released in India. There would be complete cooperation from the Indian film industry.”
He further added that an official statement will be released later in the day.
The film will not be screened in India due to ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. On Sunday, June 22, Diljit Dosanjh shared the trailer on social media and announced the film’s release date.
Sharing the trailer on his official Instagram page, Diljit Dosanjh wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only/ FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN (sic).” The film will not see a release in India due to the film industry’s ongoing ban on Pakistani actors, imposed in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 tourists. The attack led to India’s military response, codenamed Operation Sindoor.
The trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 has been geo-blocked on YouTube in India, making it inaccessible to viewers in the country.
The film is a horror comedy starring Diljit Dosanjh, Hania Aamir, and Neeru Bajwa. The trailer features Hania as a ghost hunter who teams up with Diljit to drive out a spirit from a mansion in the United Kingdom.
Prior to Sardaar Ji 3, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had already imposed a complete ban on Abir Gulaal, a Hindi film that marked Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema after a nine-year hiatus.
