A young man lost his life and two vehicles were badly damaged in a high-speed crash on the Baroda-Ahmedabad Express Highway near the Ramol Ring Road bridge early Thursday morning. The driver of the Bolero SUV, allegedly responsible for the accident, reportedly fled the scene after the collision.According to a media report, the complaint was lodged by S Muneswaran(26), a truck driver from Tamil Nadu. He stated in his complaint that the accident occurred around 12.45 am on June 19. Muneswaran and his co-driver Mani Muthu were enroute from Tamil Nadu to Rajasthan, operating a truck owned by MPK Transport. As they approached the Ramol exit on the express highway, a Bolero SUV rammed into the rear driver’s side of their stationary truck.The collision was so severe that the Bolero’s cabin was crushed, and its chassis was extensively damaged. The rear tyre of the truck was also damaged in the crash.An unidentified male passenger, estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old, was trapped inside the Bolero SUV. Fire department personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured youth, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, he died during treatment.The Bolero driver, identified as Ganesh, had fled the scene in another vehicle, leaving the SUV behind.”The accused driver, Ganesh, son of Gopinath Nivrutti Tongare, 19 years old, a resident of Umrale village, Taluka Dindori, District Nashik, Maharashtra, has been arrested,” said R.K. Rabari, inspector of the I Division Traffic Police.
