A team from the National Institute of Design (NID) has won first prize in the lighting category of the Wipro iDesign competition 2025 for their project “Bloomier” a ceiling and user-focused task light.
The winning team, Ritwik Halder, S Vaishnavi, and Vikrant Verma from the Product Design PG 2024 batch, received a certificate and ₹50,000 in cash.
Bloomier combines modern design with nature-inspired beauty. The team said the design was based on an origami flower in bloom. Key features include moving parts, hanging light with easily replaceable parts, smooth integration into office spaces, use of recycled fabric, light sensitivity, reduced power use, and minimal light leakage.
