A thunderstorm hit several parts of Gujarat on Sunday, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that light to heavy rain is likely to continue until June 1. An orange alert has been given for six districts in Saurashtra and north Gujarat because of chances of heavy rain and thunderstorms. In the next six days, many areas in the state may see strong winds blowing at 40–50 km/h, along with rain and thunderstorms.
According to the IMD, an orange alert has been issued for Surendranagar, Botad, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad due to winds of 40–60 km/h and moderate rain with thunderstorms on Monday. The rest of the districts may also experience strong winds and possible rainfall. On Tuesday, rain and thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40–50 km/h are expected across the state.
On Wednesday, a yellow alert was issued for Amreli, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, and Dahod districts due to heavy rain. A yellow alert is issued for Chhotaudepur, Dahod, Mahisagar, Aravalli, Amreli, and Bhavnagar on Thursday.

As per the IMD, the windy and rainy conditions will persist for the next six days. From May 30 to June 1, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Panchmahal, Dahod, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad.
A low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea is causing strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms in Gujarat. The state government has told district officials to stay alert and keep control rooms active 24/7. Fishermen have been warned not to go into the sea due to high waves.
