In response to rising tensions with Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, ordnance manufacturing units across several states have cancelled long leaves of their employees to ramp up production and meet urgent targets.
The factories have announced that all leaves exceeding two days stand cancelled for both officers and workers. The decision aims to address pending backlogs and ensure that monthly production goals are achieved without delay.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) in Jabalpur one of the largest units under Munitions India Limited (MIL), employing over 4,000 personnel formally announced the cancellation of extended leaves. “The leave of more than two days has been cancelled with immediate effect to meet the production target,” said an official from the factory. He added that shortfalls in April’s output have necessitated stronger workforce presence and supervision.
Similarly, in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, the local ordnance factory has issued a directive cancelling all types of leave, including earned and casual leave, until further notice. The internal communication cited an emergency situation and instructed employees to report to duty immediately.
