Indian cricket head coach and former BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has reportedly received a death threat from “ISIS Kashmir”.
His office said that on Wednesday, he approached the Delhi Police and filed a formal complaint for an FIR and sought measures to safeguard his family’s security.
The Delhi Police are expected to launch a thorough investigation into the threat and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of Gambhir and his family.
According to a media report, Gambhir received two threatening emails on April 22. One email was received in the afternoon and the other one in the evening. Both the emails contained the message ‘IKILLU’.
The Delhi Police has also reacted to the death threat. “We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The same is being investigated. He is already a Delhi Police protectee, and we do not comment on specific security arrangements,” Police said.
As per the media report, it is said that this is not the first time Gambhir has been targeted. He received a similar death threat via email in November 2021.
The latest threat comes just a day after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which sent shockwaves across the nation. Gambhir had expressed his condolences for the victims on social media.
“Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike,” Gambhir wrote on X.
