Stand-up comedian Swati Sachdeva has found herself at the center of controversy after a recent performance left social media divided. A viral video from her act shows her joking about an awkward moment with her mother, a topic that has not been well received by many netizens.
In the clip, Swati narrates an incident, where her mother discovered a vibrator in her room but hesitated to discuss it. She said that her mom was trying to “act cool” but struggled to talk about the vibrator fearing it would turn on. She humorously adds that to dodge the embarrassment, she told her mother it belonged to her father, to which her mother responded by saying that her father has “better taste.”
However, the joke did not sit well with several social media users, who labeled it as “vulgar”. Some criticized her remarks as “vulgar,” while others accused her of disrespecting her mother in public.
One of the users urged PMO to take action against such comedians and wrote, “Shameless…sharmnaak. Thodi bahut hansi majaak chalta hai par ye to ab had hi kar rhe…@GoI_MeitY @PMOIndia need to ban or restrict the content in these shows.”
“Khud ko famous krne k liye perents ki koi respect nhi hai,” added another. “#Shame.
In the name of comedy and independence some women are defaming the whole community,” a third comment read.
Several other users also called Swati’s act “disgusting” and “filthy”.
This controversy surfaces amid ongoing legal troubles for comedian Samay Raina over remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on India’s Got Latent. Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, sparked outrage after allegedly asking a contestant an inappropriate question about body parts and offering Rs 2 crore for an indecent act. The backlash intensified when he posed the controversial dilemma: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?”
Both Ranveer and Samay are now facing multiple FIRs in connection with the case.
