ahmedabad summer isn’t just hot—it’s next-level hot. We’re talking melt-your-chappals, stick-to-your-chair, why-did-I-leave-the-house kind of heat.

Business News

The sun? Not just shining—it’s in attack mode. Step outside at noon, and you might feel like a roasted papad left on the terrace. ACs are gasping, water bottles are sweating, and let’s be honest—so are we. But hey, we’ve got a fix—hill stations. Cool breeze, fresh air, and zero chance of becoming a puddle. These are the real escape plans when the city turns into a toaster. So pack up, log off, and let’s head to where the sun isn’t trying to BBQ us.

Gujarat’s only legit hill station, Saputara, is like that one cool cousin who always knows the best spots. This place is a dream for nature lovers and lazy weekenders alike. Nestled in the Dang district, Saputara holds a special place in Gujarat’s cultural tapestry. Its name translates to ‘Abode of Serpents’, reflecting the local tribal lore and reverence for serpent deities.

Getting There: Approximately 400 km from Ahmedabad, a road trip to Saputara takes about 7 to 8 hours, depending on stops and the scenic routes you choose.

Activities:

Boating: Enjoy a serene boat ride on Saputara Lake, surrounded by lush greenery.

Sunset Point: Witness breathtaking sunsets that paint the sky in hues of orange and pink.

Gira Waterfalls: Capture Instagram-worthy shots at this picturesque waterfall.

Wilson Hills – The Secret Hangout Spot

If Saputara is the popular kid, Wilson Hills is the underrated genius. Tucked away in the Sahyadris, this place gives you a rare treat—a hill station with a sea view! Named after Lord Wilson, the then Governor of Bombay, Wilson Hills was developed during the British colonial era as a summer retreat. Its unique location offers views stretching to the Arabian Sea.

Getting There:Located about 360 km from Ahmedabad, Wilson Hills is accessible via a 7 to 8-hour drive, which offers scenic views along the way.

Activities:

Marble Chatri: Stroll through this unique spot and enjoy panoramic views.

Waterfall Chasing: Explore hidden waterfalls nestled within dense forests.

Polo Forest– Where Ruins Meet Rainforests

Ever wanted to play Indiana Jones without actually running from boulders? Polo Forest is your jam! Established around the 10th century, Polo Forest was once a thriving city under the Parihar kings of Idar. Over centuries, it saw the rise and fall of various dynasties, including the Rathores and the Solankis.

Getting There: A mere 160 km from Ahmedabad, Polo Forest is a comfortable 3 to 4-hour drive, making it perfect for a quick getaway.

Activities:

Ancient Temples: Explore 600-year-old Jain and Hindu temple ruins enveloped by nature.

Trekking: Embark on trails that wind through dense forests and along the Harnav River.

Camping: Set up camp under a canopy of stars and immerse yourself in the tranquillity.

Girnar Hills – The Stairway to Heaven

If you don’t mind a 10,000-step workout (yes, you read that right), Girnar Hills is your perfect escape. The hills are adorned with temples built by the Solanki dynasty between the 9th and 12th centuries, showcasing intricate architecture and spiritual significance.

Getting There:Situated about 320 km from Ahmedabad, reaching Girnar Hills involves a 6 to 7-hour drive to Junagadh, followed by the ascent.

Activities:

Trekking: Conquer the 10,000 steps leading to the summit, blending physical endurance with spiritual journey.

Temples: Visit ancient Jain temples and the Dattatreya Temple perched atop the hill.

Ropeway: For a less strenuous ascent, take the Girnar Ropeway and enjoy aerial views.

Dang Forest – Gujarat’s Own Jungle Book

Monkeys, waterfalls, and lush green landscapes—stepping into Dang Forest feels like stepping into a lost world. The Dang region is steeped in tribal culture and predominantly inhabited by the Dangi tribes. Historically isolated, this area has preserved its unique traditions, festivals, and deep connection to nature, offering a rich cultural experience alongside its natural beauty.
