Acting against child exploitation, the Vastrapur police have registered an FIR against a 25-year-old man for allegedly forcing a 12-year-old girl to beg at Pakwan Char Rasta in Ahmedabad. The accused, identified as Sureshbhai Kajod Bhagaria, was reportedly exploiting the minor, who is his niece, for financial gain.
The Women’s Cell team was patrolling, when they observed a young girl begging from pedestrians near Pakwan Char Rasta. Upon inquiry, she revealed that her maternal uncle Sureshbhai had been forcing her to beg. When questioned, the accused, a native of Nainwa village of Rajasthan, admitted to making the girl beg due to financial hardship.
Following the investigation, the Vastrapur police registered a case against Sureshbhai Bhagaria under various sections of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, 2015, which deal with cruelty to children and their unlawful exploitation.
