Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is reported to take a departure from Sony TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The show, which has recently marked 25 years, is currently in its Season 16. Amitabh Bachchan has been hosting the show since 2000 when he was 57.
The actor, who is now 82, wants to reduce his workload. There have also been reports that he has asked the channel to find a successor for the show. He had also announced during Season 15 that it would be his last season. The channel failed to find a replacement for Amitabh Bachchan, and the actor was forced to continue hosting. However, a change might be inevitable next season.
According to the recent research study conducted by the Indian Institute of Human Brands (IIHB) and Rediffusion’s Red Lab, Shah Rukh Khan emerged as the top choice to replace Amitabh Bachchan on KBC. The survey was conducted among 768 respondents (408 males, 360 females) from the Hindi-speaking regions.
However, the research revealed Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the top choices to replace host Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming season. However, there is no official confirmation about who the next host of KBC will be.
SRK has previously hosted KBC Season 3 on Star TV, but didn’t receive the expected response from the audience. Despite starting strong, the show’s ratings dropped after the hosting change. However, SRK has now become fans’ favourite actor and recently emerged as the top contender to replace Amitabh Bachchan with 63% votes.
