Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city has launched an advanced inline customs screening room at Terminal-2 (International) to expedite the baggage screening process for arrivals.
The screening room equipped with the CCTV monitoring system to oversee baggage processing features high-speed x-ray machines operating at 0.5 m/s, much faster than the previous 0.12 m/s, enabling faster baggage reclaim and enhanced screening efficiency.
The airport management in a statement said, “The new system integrates a CCTV monitoring system to oversee the screening process and introduces a dedicated line to manage rejected bags without causing delays. This modification prevents the need for customs personnel to halt the conveyor when rejecting bags, ensuring a smoother flow of baggage and reducing congestion.”
The increased x-ray speed and optimized processes allow customs employees to screen baggage directly from the screening room instead of being deployed at the belts, reducing wait times and enhancing the travel experience.
