The Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Gandhinagar, has issued an official gazette notification regarding traffic diversions due to the ongoing Metro Rail Phase-II project. As per the directive, the road from CH-5 Circle to GH-5 Circle (P17/02 to P17/33) will remain closed for vehicular movement from 6:00 AM on January 27, 2025, to midnight on April 23, 2025. The decision follows recommendations from the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. and the Superintendent of Police, Gandhinagar, to facilitate seamless construction work while ensuring public safety.
Restricted Route:
For the Metro Project Phase-II work, the road from Ch-5 Circle to GH-5 Circle (P17/02 to P17/33) will be closed in both directions for railing work. All vehicular movement will be restricted.
Diversion Route:
Metro railway work will be carried out on Road No. 5 from Sector-17/22 Cut to Ch-5 Circle. Due to this, one side of the road from Sector-17/22 Cut to Ch-5 Circle will be closed. Vehicles traveling from GH-5 Circle to Road No. 5 (Ch-5) must turn right at Sector-17/22 Cut and proceed in a single lane on the opposite road towards Ch-5 Circle.
After completing the work on the stretch from Sector-17/22 Cut to Ch-5 Circle, metro railway work will commence in the opposite direction from Ch-5 Circle to Sector-17/22 Cut. This will result in the closure of one side of the road from Sector 17/22 to Ch-5 Circle. Vehicles from 5-5 Circle must use the opposite road in a single lane, turning left at Sector-13/22 Cut to reach GH-5 Circle.
Once the work from Ch-5 Circle to Sector-17/22 Cut is completed, metro railway construction will begin on the stretch from Sector-17/22 Cut to GH-5 Circle. This will close one side of the road from Sector-17/22 Cut to GH-5 Circle. Vehicles coming from Ch-5 Circle must use the opposite road in a single lane via Sector-17/22 Cut to reach GH-5 Circle.
After completing the work from Sector-17/22 Cut to GH-5 Circle, metro railway construction will commence from GH-5 Circle to Sector-17/22 Cut. Since this stretch has shopping malls, hospitals, and banks, the work will be carried out at night. One side of the road from GH-5 Circle to Sector-17/22 Cut will remain closed during nighttime, and vehicles from GH-5 Circle will use the opposite road in a single lane to reach Ch-5 Circle. Traffic marshals will be deployed to prevent vehicle parking on the road and to avoid traffic congestion.
The necessary signage boards (4 feet × 6 feet) displaying diversion information in Gujarati, Hindi, and English must be installed at the designated locations to ensure visibility at night. Additionally, Dilip Buildcon Ltd. will be responsible for setting up barricades.
To prevent accidents during the execution of the work, special precautions must be taken day and night. As part of these precautions, Dilip Buildcon Ltd. must deploy traffic marshals to regulate traffic and provide guidance along the diversion route. Continuous monitoring will be required to prevent any mishaps.
Any individual violating or disregarding this order will be subject to legal action under Section 135(3) of the relevant Act and Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code, 2023.
