Issues new instructions for barricading, fixing, and filling road maintenance sites.
The Ahmedabad Municipal T Corporation (AMC) has released new instructions for barricading, fixing, and filling the sites.
According to sources from the Municipal Engineer Department, roadways are being dug in seven zones for a variety of municipal projects, including water, sewage, and stormwater lines.
The contractors of such works dig the road and pile up soil etc. on the side, due to which the road becomes narrow and air pollution increases.
Similarly, after digging the road, the contractors do not becomes properly barricade it, due to which motorists and pedestrians often fall into the pit.
During the monsoon, such pits become dangerous and deadly. There is a rule to patchwork or resurface the road after digging the road and laying underground services. But contractors of the municipality do not dothese works properly.
On the instructions of the municipal commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Mirant Parikh, who is in charge of the Water Resources and Management Department, has issued new guidelines for the proper conduct of road resurfacing or patch- work after digging the road. It has been urged to do systematic barricading, fill the holes and only then do patchwork or resurfacing so that no casualties or accidents occur. Not only this, if the road caves in within a year after the completion of the digging work, it is the responsibility of the company that obtained the approval and the municipal contractor to fix it.
