The minor girl went missing from her home on December 31 after which her family filed for a missing complaint suspecting that she had been kidnapped
10-year-old girl, a Class 5 student, from Dhansura village in Gujarat was caught by the police after eloping with a 16-year-old boy she met on Instagram.
The two minors were found hours after the girl’s family filed a missing person complaint.
The minor girl went missing from her home on December 31 after which her family filed for a missing complaint suspecting that she had been kidnapped.
However, during the investigation, the police discovered that the girl and the boy had met and formed a relationship through the social media platform. Both have been sent to a juvenile home.
The girl and the boy, who lived in different villages, had fallen in love after chatting frequently on the phone. According to the police, the minor had been using her mother’s phone to communicate with the boy.
On the day she went missing, the two planned to elope, with the assistance of three friends.
Following the family’s complaint, the police were able to trace the pair and bring the girl back to her family. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.
This case echoes a similar incident from last year in Madhya Pradesh, where a 15-year-old girl eloped with a 27-year-old man she had met on a social media platform. The two threatened their parents to arrange a wedding ceremony if they were to be separated.
