Barge into schools in east A’bad; remove posters of Santa Claus and dismantle tree decorations
Members affiliated with right-wing organisations on Tuesday disrupted Christmas celebrations at various schools in east Ahmedabad. The members, reportedly wearing saffron scarves, entered several schools and forcibly removed the Santa Claus costumes from children participating in the celebrations.
The group also tore down Christmas-related drawings, posters of Santa Claus and Christmas tree decorations displayed at these schools’ notice boards.
According to available information, Om Shanti School (CTM), Raja Bhagat Vidyalaya, Udgam School (CTM) and The-Mother English School were targeted.
The members also warned the school administrators and staff from any such Christmas celebrations in future. The video of the incident has also gone viral on social media.
A school principal, speaking on the condition of anonymity, con- firmed the incident. He said, “The children were dressed in Santa Claus costumes in accordance with government guidelines.
Around 50 members forcibly entered the school premises and removed the costumes of children while threatening to cause further harm to the school.”
