The Local Crime Branch (LCB) team today arrested two individuals in the Juhapura area with 74 reels of banned and deadly Chinese kite strings.
Despite a statewide ban on the use, sale, and purchase of Chinese kite strings and lanterns, some individuals continue to engage in this dangerous trade. Acting on a tip-off, the Zone-7 LCB, led by DCP Shivam Verma, conducted a raid and apprehended the suspects. The seized reels, valued at ₹37,000, are part of a product known for causing multiple fatal accidents in Gujarat, raising serious safety concerns.
As part of an ongoing crackdown, the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner and Additional Police Commissioner (Sector-1) have directed teams across all zones to identify and take strict action against individuals involved in importing, storing, selling, or using these hazardous materials.
While patrolling, LCB Police Sub-Inspector Y.P. Jadeja and his team, including Head Constable Nasrullah Khan and Constable Irfan Kasambhai, received information about the illegal sale of Chinese strings in Juhapura. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended the two accused along with 74 reels of kite strings. A case has been registered at the Vejalpur Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Gujarat Police Act. Further legal proceedings are underway to ensure strict action against the accused.
