The construction of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project is progressing rapidly, with significant breakthroughs achieved in viaduct construction, station development, and tunnel works. Spanning a total length of 508 km, the project covers 352 km in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and 156 km in Maharashtra. It includes 12 planned stations, including Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Mumbai.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) recently shared the latest update on the project as of November 28, 2024, highlighting key accomplishments. These include the completion of 356 km of pier foundations, 345 km of pier works, 273 km of girder casting, and 233 km of viaduct construction. Additionally, five steel bridges and one mountain tunnel in Gujarat’s Valsad district have been completed. In Maharashtra, seven mountain tunnels in the Palghar district and a 21 km tunnel between BKC and Thane are under construction. Noise barriers have been installed over a 91 km stretch, and 51 km of track bed has been completed. Work is also underway at all 12 stations and the Sabarmati and Surat rolling stock depots, signaling steady progress toward the project’s completion.
