Implementation of scheme was delayed due to schools’ failure to apply online
A total of 43 schools from Ahmedabad city have completed the offline submission of applications for the Saraswati Sadhana Scheme, aimed at providing free bicycles to socially and economically backward girls in Class 9 at government and grant-in-aid schools.
Despite repeated instructions from the District Education Office to submit applications online via the Digital Gujarat portal, many schools failed to process the online submissions, citing technical issues and a lack of documents. This led to significant delays in implementing the scheme.
Ahmedabad DEO Rohit Chaudhari recently issued a notice to the concerned schools to submit offline proposals for eligible students to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department office in Asarwa. Following this, all 43 schools have now submitted their applications offline.
Chaudhari said, “The delay in application submissions was due to negligence by 43 schools. Despite several reminders, the submissions were not completed on time. However, after issuing notices and reviewing the schools’ explanations regarding technical difficulties, we instructed them to proceed with offline submissions. As of Monday, the offline applications of all 43 schools have been submitted to the department.”
