Traffic violators in Gujarat will receive flowers and awareness pamphlets instead of the customary fines from October 31 to November 6, with the police adopting a novel approach to promote road safety amid the festive season.
With vehicle movement expected to increase significantly during Diwali, officer stationed at markets, highways, and traffic circles will aim to educate traffic violators on how actions could impact their families.. Officers are expected to address common violations including helmet and seat belt rules, overspeeding, wrong-side driving, and lane discipline, with an emphasis on the value of human life.
Flowers will be distributed as a sign of festive goodwill, an official said.
