The Australia-based University of Wollongong is set to open its campus at GIFT City from November. The university authorities announced that they have opened the applications for aspirants in India and have already received more than 800 applications for the computing and financial technology, against the intake of 50 each.
The university campus will occupy 14,500 square feet carpet area on one floor of one of the high-rise buildings in the GIFT City’s Special Economic Zone. This branch campus will offer the same syllabus as its Australian counterpart, with flexible academic material tailored to meet the requirements of the local industries, along with high-quality internship and placement—all at 50% of the fees charged in Australia.
The fee at the Indian campus has been capped at Australian Dollar (AUD) 9,300 for graduate certificate course in computing and AUD27,900 for Master’s degree in Computing (Data Analytics). For the Graduate Certificate course in Financial Technology, the fee is capped at AUD9,300, AUD27,900 for Master of Financial Technology and AUD37,200 for Master of Financial Technology Extension.
The university will follow a trimester system—three months for one-term model instead of the popular semester model in which a term lasts for six months. The varsity’s GIFT campus has started recruiting faculty and experts from the Dubai campus will fly in and out initially to kick-start the academics.
