Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to flag off the country’s first Vande Bharat Metro Train service on September 16th. PM Modi, who is expected to be on a visit to his home state of Gujarat from September 15th to 17th, is likely to inaugurate the Vande Metro Train service between Ahmedabad and Bhuj.
This indigenously developed train is equipped with 12 air-conditioned coaches, and a trial run of the train on the Ahmedabad-Gandhidham route was conducted last week. During the trial run on September 8th, the train covered the Ahmedabad to Gandhidham route in four hours and the Gandhidham to Bhuj route in a single hour.
The train’s speed during the trial reached up to 110 km/h, according to Gandhidham’s Chief Loco Inspector RB Kashyap. Fast trains generally take around 6.5 hours to travel between Ahmedabad and Bhuj. In comparison, the Vande Bharat Metro train during its trial took about 1.5 hours less. The Vande Bharat Metro is an air-conditioned (AC) train with automatic doors, LED displays, toilets, digital route indicators, panoramic windows, CCTV, phone charging facilities, and more.
