Central security agencies and airport staff will conduct visits to societies near the Ahmedabad airport this weekend to create awareness of airport and runway security among residents.
The initiative is a part of the ‘Aviation Security Culture Week’ which is being celebrated by the Bureau of Civil Aviation and Security (BCAS), New Delhi, from August 5 to 11 at airports across the country. Many programmes are being organized at the Ahmedabad airport.
Sometime ago, the entry of an unknown drone created a flutter at the Ahmedabad airport, raising questions over security of the airport. Similarly, a person was caught from the runway by the security agencies.
After investigation, it was found that the person was mentally unstable and had entered the runway to see the aircraft.
Many people and passengers make the mistake of considering the security of the airport as a normal thing. But this is a serious matter. It is necessary for the airport staff, passengers and also the people living around the airport to understand it.
