Ahmedabad’s police control room is set to enhance public announcements across 100 locations in the city simultaneously. The upcoming police commissioner’s office at Shahibaug Police Headquarters will feature this advanced technology.
Police officials have identified 100 congested and high-traffic points in Ahmedabad where the new public announcement system will be deployed. This system enables the police control room to broadcast announcements to large crowds through speakers. The selected locations include Shastri Nagar Char Rasta, Asarwa Lake, Arbudanagar Odhav, Memnagar HBK School, Gujarat University Tran Rasta, Gujarat College, Paldi Mahalakshmi Char Rasta, Usmanpura Vidyanagar School, Ranip Balolnagar, and Chandkheda GTU Girls College.
The number of 100-line connections in the police control room has been expanded from 11 to 30 in the new commissioner’s office. Additionally, while the old office had 36 CCTV monitoring screens, the new facility boasts 48 screens. Furthermore, 600 police personnel are now equipped with body-worn cameras, allowing real-time viewing from the new control room.
Enhancements include GPS tracking for 78 PCR vans and a total of 225 police vehicles. This system facilitates live monitoring of vehicle locations, a capability absent in the current control room setup.
