The southwest monsoon has weakened over Gujarat and is expected to move further into Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) data.
However, due to the absence of any strong system like favourable winds, cyclonic circulation, or dense clouds along the coast, people have to be content with scattered showers, and the scorching heat may remain persistent.
Light to heavy showers were recorded in parts of Gujarat today, including Rajkot, Shapar, Veraval, Valsad, and Limbdi.
Heavy showers were recorded in Rajkot in several areas, including Junction Plot, Sindhi Colony, Jamnagar Road, and Ghanteshwar, while most areas, including University Road and Kalavad Road, remained dry.
Scattered showers were also recorded in Botad’s Ranpur.
Valsad received the highest rainfall of 16 mm, followed by Limbdi with 6 mm. Showers were also recorded in Kaprada, Vapi, and Bardoli.
Due to the lack of rain in most parts of the state, the mercury remained high.
Today, the highest temperature was recorded at 41.9°C in Vallabh Vidyanagar, followed by 41.5°C in Ahmedabad and Surendranagar.
Apart from this, the temperature in Gandhinagar and Rajkot also crossed 41°C. In Amreli, the temperature was 40.4 °C, and in the rest of Saurashtra, including the entire Kutch and South Gujarat, the mercury remained below 40°C.
