With additional counters, expanded bus boarding areas and enhanced aerobridge facility Ahmedabad Airport is all set for an overhaul with a promise to dole out a smoother and livelier experience to the passengers.
With the expansion of both arrival and departure areas, the airport aims to raise its capacity from 2.5 million to 8.5 million passenger footfall annually upon the completion of the expansion plan.
According to sources, to expedite the check-in process, the number of counters has been raised from 25 to 36 and would be further increased to 58 counters. The addition of more bus boarding areas and aerobridges is expected to enhance boarding efficiency.
Security measures have also been bolstered with the installation of additional x-ray scanners — increasing from 6 to 14, and metal detectors, rising from 6 to 22.
“Key improvements include the increase in immigration counters from 16 to 24 with an aim to streamline the entry process for travelers. Additionally, the introduction of an international transfer desk within the arrival area will facilitate seamless connection for passengers with the connecting flights,”.
Furthermore, the terminal’s ambience has undergone a thematic transformation, now featuring new art installations, portraying the vibrant culture of Gujarat, along with a tall statue of Sardar Patel.
Intelligent cleaning robots have also been deployed to maintain cleanliness automatically within the terminal premises.
