During his acceptance speech, the 72-year-old Mumbai-born percussionist expressed gratitude to the Academy and fellow musicians Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia. He emphasized the importance of family, love, and music in their achievements.
Additionally, Hussain’s ‘As We Speak,’ earned him the Grammy for the ‘Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.’ for which he had collaborated with Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia.
Furthermore, Ustad Zakir Hussain, a member of the Jazz group ‘Shakti,’ clinched ‘The Best Global Music Album’ award for the group’s latest release, ‘This Moment.’ The album features eight songs crafted by John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, V Selvaganesh, and Ganesh Rajagopalan. The group competed against artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.
