A trigger campaign was launched in Ahmedabad for the collection of outstanding property tax.
In a single day, 20,789 properties of arrears in the seven zones of the city were sealed by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The highest- 6,025 properties were sealed in the north zone. A substantial amount of ₹15.78 crore was recovered through the campaign from the seven zones.
Apart from commercial offices in Sumel-4 in the Amdupura ward of the north zone, offices and shops in Sumel-10, shops and offices in various complexes in Nava Naroda and Hanspura wards were sealed for recovery of outstanding property tax.
Industrial estates were also the target of AMC. A total of 6,025 properties were sealed and an amount of ₹2.87 crore was collected as arrears of property tax from the zone.
In the east zone, 3,854 properties were sealed and ₹3.20 crore was collected.
A total of 20 teams from various departments of the municipality were deployed in other areas including Pavilion Mall, Nikol, Durga Estate, Rakhial, Global Business Park, and Odhav under the leadership of the assistant municipal commissioner.
2,515 properties of defaulters in the south-west zone’s Jodhpur, S.G.Highway, Ambli Road, Anand Nagar-100 feet road, Maktampura, Sarkhej, and other areas were sealed and an amount of ₹2.2 crore was collected as arrear property tax.
In the north-west zone, 5024 properties were sealed and an amount of ₹3.87 crore was recovered in areas including Sindhu Bhavan Road, Ghatlodia Samarpan Tower, Vastrapur, SG Highway, and Gota.
A total of 680 properties of the defaulters in various estates located in Narol, Lambha, and Isanpur in the south zone were sealed and a recovery of ₹1.1 crore was made.
In the central zone, 1012 properties were sealed in Shahibaug, New Cloth Market, Tavdipura, Bhadra, and Panchkuva areas, with an amount of ₹1.36 crore recovered.
