Two dozen flights was disrupted on Thursday due to cold and fog in North India. An early morning. Ahmedabad-Jaipur flight of IndiGo was delayed by five hours on Thursday resulting in about 70 passengers having to stay put in the aircraft for three and a half hours resulting in a ruckus at the airport.
Low visibility on runways in North India has resulted in several flights getting delayed. The IndiGo flight was to take off at 6.35 am from the Ahmedabad Airport. However, the flight did not take off for more than three hours.
Senior citizens were among the passengers and many suffered breathlessness. A passenger said the airlines kept the passengers waiting on the flight for 3.5 hours and they were eventually allowed to disembark at 9.45 am. Airline staff told passengers that the flight was delayed due to low visibility at Jaipur Airport.
Passengers disembarked at the arrival area and were asked to return to the departure area by 10.10 am. When passengers reached the departure area the gate was closed leading to another ruckus.
Eventually, the flight took off for Jaipur at 11.44 am, taking the hassled passengers of the Ahmedabad-Jaipur Indigo flight. Over a dozen flights from Ahmedabad to Jaipur, Agra, Pune, Mumbai and Jammu were delayed by one to five hours on Thursday due to foggy conditions in North and Western India.
