The Ahmedabad Metro rail project phase-2 works are going on speedily and the works of placing 21 spans on Shahpur bridge over river Sabarmati near GIFT City is completed. GMRC said the process of placing 22nd span is in progress.
GMRC in a note further stated that each span is completed in record-breaking six days period only. After installation of spans, GMRC said it would take up the works of railing, metro tracks, third rail installation for power supply and signal related works.
The the works are being executed with a target to start trials of Metro train in the month of April next year. The phase-2 of Ahmedabad Metro rail project is meant for Metro rail connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar and also for internal transportation of Gandhinagar. The phase-2 will connect Motera Stadium to GIFT City and further to Gandhinagar town.
