IITRAM hosted a Distinguished Guest Lecture on 28th November 2023. The invited Guests of Honour were Dr. I P Gautam, IAS (Retd.), Former First Member, Lokpal of India, and Prof. Rama Shanker Dubey, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. In the light of Constitution Day, commemorating the adoption of the constitution, the lecture was held on “Eradicate Corruption: Build a New India”. Dr. I P Gautam, an accomplished academician and administrator, spoke about the need to work jointly with a proactive reform methodology for achieving the goal of corruption free India. He threw light on the regulatory framework to deal corruption cases, various organizations in India that handles corruption and particularly, spoke about the need for Lokpal Act. Among other significant government policies, Dr. Gautam also discussed the prevention of petty corruption and suggested measures to create more transparency using new technology.
Prof. Rama Shanker Dubey discussed the Indian education system, emphasizing its deep connection to cultural values. He highlighted the shift from the moral and ethical foundations of Indian education to the influence of the British education system. In line with Dr. I P Gautam’s insights, Prof. Dubey emphasized that the absence of education could contribute to the prevalence of petty corruption within the country. Acknowledging India’s substantial demographic dividend, he underscored the crucial role education plays in harnessing the nation’s potential.
