The Amdavad Municipal Corporation decided to install 2,500 new streetlights at a cost of Rs. 10 crores in the city over the next 3 months. Currently, there are more than 2 lakh streetlights across the city.
The timing for switching on the streetlights has been increased, keeping the winter season in mind. Now, the lights will be turned on around 6 pm and will stay on until 7 am the next morning.
People who go for a morning walk stay out late during winter, but at that time, they faced difficulties as the streetlights are switched off. Therefore, instructions have been given to adjust the streetlight on-off timer. So now the light will be switched between 6 to 6:15 in the evening and will be kept on till 6:45 to 7 in the morning. Thus, streetlights will remain on for 13 hours during winter in the city.
