The state government is considering the acquisition of 500 acres of land in Godhavi to establish a sports city. the land sought is positioned along the proposed 90-metre Ring Road.

Godhavi, located on the western side of Ahmedabad, offers excellent connectivity due to the convergence of several roads at this point, facilitating easy access from various parts of Ahmedabad, including the airport, railway station, bus rapid transit system and metro stations.
The state government has initiated a project exceeding Rs 4,000 crore to establish sports facilities in and around Ahmedabad as part of the plan to host the 2036 Games. Initially, there were plans for a games village near the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Motera. However, negotiations for modifications to two town planning schemes took longer than anticipated. Consequently, there’s contemplation about relocating a significant portion of the proposed sports city to Godhavi.
