Now your face will work as your boarding pass at Ahmedabad airport. This decision has been taken to speed up the checking process at the airport. DigiYatra app will be integrated with check-in and e-gate systems at the city airport in less than a month.
Passengers who carry only cabin luggage will not require a boarding pass and instead biometric scanning through DigiYatra app will facilitate the check-in. This will also lead to a seamless entry into the airport.
With DigiYatra, passengers data can be automatically processed based on a facial recognition system at various checkpoints, including at security check areas. Airport officials revealed that the average turnaround time of passengers checking into the airport with hand baggage alone, was around 15 minutes. This will reduce by at least 65% once DigiYatra is implemented.
DigiYatra has already been implemented at three airports New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi in December last year.
