Ahmedabad’s Akshit Savala upset top seed Burhanuddin Malubhai to win the men’s title at the 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament in Bhavnagar.
Akshit took the opening game only for the Surti paddler to come back in the second. The 24-year-old Akshit overcame a mid-match slump to pocket his maiden men’s title of the season.
Fifth seed Oishiki Joardar of Ahmedabad rallied from two games down to beat the second seed Namna Jayswal 4-2 to claim her maiden women’s title. Oishiki then went on to win the U-19 girls title by beating Surat’s Arnee Parmar.
The boys U-19 title went to top seed Burhanuddin who defeated second seed Arman Shaikh 4-1. Ahmedabad’s Pratha Pawar took home the U-17 and U-15 girls titles by defeating Arnee and Jiya Trivedi respectively. Second seed Himansh Dahiya of Ahmedabad thumped fourth seed Janmejay Patel 4-0 to win the boys U-17 final.
Another paddler to bag a double crown was Ahmedabad’s Ansh Khamar. He defeated top seed Jenil Patel to win the U-13 boys title and then beat second seed Dev Bhatt of Rajkot in U-11 to complete his second title.
In U-13 girls final, top seed Daniya Godil beat Charmi Trivedi of Bhavnagar, while top seed Vincy Tanna registered a straight-game victory over second seed Tanisha Deputy to clinch U-11 girls crown.
