The Gujarat Deceased Organ and Tissue Transplantation Guidelines (G-Dot) have been modified by the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (Sotto), which removed the need to present domicile documents and raised the age limit for receiving cadaver organs.
The modifications include a five-point organ distribution roster and a fee waiver for cadaver donation registration. These changes are meant to harmonise state-by-state organ donation laws and broaden the scope of cadaver organ donations.
The action follows a previous Gujarat High Court decision that declared the earlier domicile requirement to be discriminatory and permitted non-domicile residents to be included in the kidney transplant preference list.
