The Western Railway has temporarily closed traffic on the Idgah railway overbridge in Shahibaug for a period of 15 days in order to conduct maintenance.
A concrete weight on the bridge that connects Idgah and Girdhar Nagar had grown excessively heavy, creating a risk of concrete fragments falling onto passing trains.
After conducting an investigation, the increased weight was found to be caused by the installation of concrete and metal railings on the bridge. In order to address this weight issue, engineers have made the decision to remove these railings. As a result, the city police commissioner has issued a notification about the closure of the bridge until June 14.
