At the Chandkheda Urban Health Centre (UHC), which is run by the AMC, a doctor on night shift was suspended after being discovered to be drunk. Rajashree Kesari, a Congressman and Chandkheda councillor, discovered Dr. Brijesh Katara drunk while performing his official duties after receiving numerous complaints. To find out the truth, the council member visited the UHC as a patient.
The incident has been confirmed by an AMC Medical Health Officer. The 30-year-old had previously received two notices for his behaviour, according to those in the know, but it made no difference. He was transferred to Chandkheda UHC. When Dr. Katara was busted, he wasn’t even wearing a uniform.
The AMC had to suspend the drunken doctor after a video of him stumbling around and speaking improperly went viral. The councilwoman can be seen in the video asking the doctor if he is sober, but the doctor keeps asking what her issue is. The doctor then claims he can treat her when the councillor asks if he is qualified to do so. The councilLOR claimed that the hospital and doctor both smelled strongly of alcohol.
She then called a senior health officer and asked if she needed to call the police and hand over the doctor to them. In the video, the visitors are also seen complaining about the doctor’s drinking. The doctor meanwhile insists that he is not drunk.
The councillor says in the video that the doctor has been turning up drunk for duty for the last couple of weeks.
