Ahmedabad University organizing a workshop on performing and visual arts “bringing art to life- exploring the worlds of theatre and visual arts” on May 6 at Art Studio, University Centre, Central Campus from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Participants in this workshop will explore the ways in which story telling, theatre, poetry and visual arts all work together to address a socially relevant issue. The workshop will use practical exercises to show how contemporary and interdisciplinary performing and visual arts are.
The role of art in society will then be highlighted through a brief discussion of a few artists’ works throughout the history of the performing and visual arts, bridging the gap between the artistic endeavours of creative people and current social issues.
The workshop will be conducted by Prof Sunil Shanbag, Professor of Practice, School of Arts and Sciences and Indian Theatre Director and Professor Rajesh Naidu, Assistant Professor, Ahmedabad University.
