A total of 19 teams, including police teams from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Surat, competed in this year’s DGP Cup Cricket Tournament.
In addition, teams from all nine Western Railway ranges, training academies, and combined DGP 11 participated.
Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi inaugrated the T20 cricket tournament that was held in Surat.
All tournament finals were held at the SGVP grounds in Chharodi, both during the day and at night.
The Surat women’s cricket team defeated Ahmedabad by nine wickets to win the trophy. This was the first time that the women’s cricket teams from the Gujarat police had also participated.
The Ahmedabad Police team defeated the Vadodara Police team by three wickets in the T20 final to win the championship. Rajkot defeated Vadodara by 62 runs in the 50-over final to win.
DGP and IGP of the Gujarat Vikas Sahay, Vadodara Police Commissioner Shamsher Singh, Rajkot CP, Raju Bhargav, Additional DGP Anupamsinh Gahlaut, Surat Range Additional DGP Piyush Patel, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Crime) Manoj Ninama and other top police officials were present during the finals of the tournament.
DGP Vikas Sahay congratulated DIG (Intelligence) Rajendra Asari for successfully conducting the cricket tournaments.
