Over 50,000 students from various colleges affiliated with Saurashtra University will take their semester end examinations under the strict supervision of authorities.
Saurashtra University Vice Chancellor, Dr Girish Bhimani said, “We have initiated several measures to curb incidents of paper leak and cheating during exams. A ‘track and trace’ system has been adopted for the first time as a part of which each question paper will have a unique QR code. In case of any probable paper leakage, the source of the paper leak can immediately be traced.”
“We have also installed CCTV cameras at all the examination centres. The visuals of the CCTV are open to all and can be viewed live by anyone from anywhere on the University’s website,” he added.
Adding further, Dr Bhimani said, “Among other measures taken by the University is that the question papers will be sent online, instead of offline at all the centres in order to reduce incidents of paper leaks. The respective principal of the college will be sent credentials to download the question paper. The principal will get an open window to download the paper one hour before the examination start time. The university has also appointed 76 observers to oversee the examinations.”
The Saurashtra University is holding exams in 132 locations across 5 districts in Gujarat for a total of 4189 subjects. It is worth noting that there have recently been two incidents of paper leaks at Saurashtra University, forcing the administration to implement new measures to prevent paper leaks.
