The Morbi suspension bridge that collapsed killing 135 people. The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday ordered clock manufacturing company Oreva Group, the company that maintained the bridge, to pay Rs.10 lakh as interim compensation to the kin of each deceased person within four weeks.
The company was asked to pay the interim compensation by a division bench that included Chief Justice Sonia Gokani and Justice Sandeep Bhatt. The company was ordered by the court to pay each of the 56 injured victims Rs 2 lakh. On October 30 of last year, the suspension bridge over the Machchhu River in Morbi town collapsed.
