In Surat, five people detained for defacing a Pathaan poster were freed on bail

A day after being detained for destroying Pathaan movie posters at a theatre in Surat’s Rander area, five Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists were freed on bail on Sunday.

The five suspects have been identified as Parth Patel (42), Deva Vanzara (42), Mukesh Vanzara (34), and Ravi Gupta (28). (25). Inspector AS Sonara of the Rander police reported that the accused were released on bail on Sunday.

Some men tore the Pathaan posters around 5 o’clock to prevent the January 25 release of the film, according to the FIR that a theatre employee filed with the Rander police station on Saturday.

When the incident occurred, the complainant was out getting a medical checkup when he got a call from a theatre assistant. Someone from the audience at the theatre called the police as he was making his way back to the theatre. Three criminals had already fled when the police arrived, while five had been taken into custody.

The five arrested and those who escaped were identified as VHP members and were booked under IPC Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (1) (punishment for criminal intimidation).
