He was arrested for intentionally inflicting harm and stirring up trouble.

Investigating Officer Bhavesh Amrelia claims that the incident took place on December 22 at the Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul in Tarvada Amreli, where the principal Piyush Savaliya beat the complainant Uday Kalasiya.

The student initially didn’t tell his parents or file a complaint. But when he was unable to take the suffering anymore, he told his parents and complained on Saturday night.

According to complaint, the boy was singing “Ramuloo” song on December 22 between two lectures at around 3 pm. When this happened, principal Piyush Savaliya, whose office is next to his classroom, came and verbally attacked him claiming that by singing the song he had insulted the “Swami.”

After that, he took the boy to his room and beat him with a stick and a chappal simultaneously.

The head of the Gurukul Hiren Chortha told the media that in the 75 years that this institution has been in operation, there has never been a report of such an incident.

The Gurukul head claimed that he had been informed that the students had been punished for using derogatory language. The issue was sorted out within the premises, only after returning home, the student lodged the complaint.

He stated that action would be taken against Piyush Savaliya if the student’s claims were found to be true.
