Ahmedabad Airport now has a specialised Bullet Resistant Vehicle (BRV) to prevent potential terrorist attacks. The state’s first airport to have BRV is Ahmedabad Airport.
These security measures are also placed at airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai to prevent terrorist attacks and ensure public safety.
The BRV has been given to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who are in charge of keeping airports secure.
CISF sources said a quick response is crucial in times of crisis like a terrorist attack. “We now have a BRV vehicle to launch countermeasures. Assault rifles like AK56, AK47 and Insas can be mounted on the BRV for projection of lethal force. The vehicle will also be used to patrol the airport premises,” said senior CISF offcial.
