The body of a man who was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover was found on the railway track underneath the Dindoli Pramukh Park overbridge in Surat on December 17. According to police, the accused killed the victim first before throwing his body onto the railroad tracks. Police said that even though the case initially appeared to be a suicide or accident there was something fishy about it.
As the victim’s face was still intact, police were able to quickly identify him as Vinod Ravindra Beldar, 27, of Nandurbar, Maharashtra. For the previous six months, Vinod had been paying rent in Dwarkeshnagar, Dindoli, Surat. Vinod, a drunkard and jobless man, resided in Surat with his wife Poonam.
Additionally, Poonam’s alleged illicit relationship with rickshaw driver Rahul Koli caused the couple to argue frequently. According to the police, Poonam invited Rahul and his cousin Sagar Koli to dinner on December 16 and a fight between the two quickly followed. With the assistance of his cousin, Rahul intervened and used Poonnam’s dupatta to strangle Vinod. At 2.20 AM, the group took Vinod’s body and dumped it on the tracks. However, the accused was caught in action by a house’s CCTV camera. The three were apprehended by police and made a confession.
