A Class 5 girl student was brutally attacked by her teacher and then thrown from the first floor of a government school, according to reports. Vandana has been identified as the victim.
She has been hospitalised and is said to be in critical condition. Police have now arrested the accused identified as Gita Deshwal.
According to report, Gita also attacked the victim with a pair of scissors at a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) primary school in the Modal Basti area of Central Delhi on Friday.
The accused teacher allegedly attacked the victim with a scissor before throwing her off the building in rage. Following the incident, witnesses on the scene called the police, who took the child to the Bara Hindu Rao Hospital.
Another teacher attempted to intervene and stop Gita from assaulting the girl, but was unsuccessful. Shweta Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) said, the teacher was charged under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case is being registered based on the eyewitness’ statement.
