The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the inaugural function of the Pramukh Swami Maharaj Shatabdi Mahotsav on Wednesday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
“His life was dedicated to the service of spirituality and humanity. As the leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, he inspired countless cultural, social and spiritual initiatives, providing comfort and care to millions,‘’ as per the statement.
People from all over the world are commemorating his birth centenary and celebrating his life and work. The year-long global celebrations will culminate in the ‘Pramukh Swami Maharaj Shatabdi Mahotsav,’ which will be hosted by the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Shahibaug, the global headquarters of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
The celebrations in Ahmedabad will last a month, beginning on December 15, with daily events, thematic exhibitions, and thought-provoking pavilions, according to the PMO.
Shastriji Maharaj founded the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in 1907. BAPS founded on pillars of practical spirituality and based on Vedic teachings, reaches out far and wide to address today’s spiritual, moral, and social challenges.
BAPS aims to preserve faith, unity, and selfless service while also meeting the spiritual, cultural, physical, and emotional needs of people from all walks of life. It engages in humanitarian work through global outreach efforts.
