The former in-laws did not stop with the beatings, they also chopped the woman’s hair. Bhanu Sadhamiya, a mother of four children has been identified as the victim.

The brutality occurred on Monday in Galkotdi village, Babra taluka, Amreli. According to report, the brutal incident was captured on mobile camera and its video went viral on social media.

The victim’s husband was killed in accident four years ago. She married another man about a year ago after her husband died.

On Monday, the woman went to see her former sister-in-law Ghugha Hikabhai, who became enraged and hurled expletives at her. Hikabhai objected to Bhanu visiting her home after her brother died.

This sparked an argument and Hikabhai’s neighbour arrived on the scene to join in on the fun. Soon after, Hikabhai’s husband arrived armed with a stick.

The accused tied the woman to a pillar before brutally thrashing her. After a brutal thrashing, Bhanu nearly passed out. Bhanu’s hair was then dragged by another sister-in-law, Chaku Charoliya, who chopped it.

Later, the victim filed a police complaint naming her in-laws and their neighbor. Police have so far arrested two persons while two other are still absconding, said DSP JP Bhandari.
